"The dismissal concerns only the director, the musical chapel of the Duomo will go on". It is Monsignor Erio Castellucci, archbishop of Modena, Nonantola and Carpi who sheds light on the case of the historic choir of the Duomo, 'evicted', so to speak, from the cathedral after a centuries-old collaboration following the premature revocation of the thirty-year convention that guaranteed a venue for choirs. A case that has sparked controversy, discontent and amazement among the faithful.
"The director of the Choir, Daniele Bononcini was fired for economic reasons - specifies Don Erio - the Musical Chapel of the Cathedral does not depend on the director but on the Metropolitan Chapter of the Cathedral, so it will go on". The bishop also confirms the reasons for this decision; or the economic difficulties that the Duomo is going through and which impose spending cuts, a sort of 'spending review' to clean up the finances and try to recover from a liability of over 300,000 euros. "
