As we well know, one of the foremost concepts that have been carried forward in this pontificate is that of the “periphery”, that is, the notion that we must all be attentive towards those who dwell in “existential peripheries”. Of course, there is an important truth in this, but the way it is advanced has turned it into a half-truth.
While it is certainly true that the Gospel does say, “blessed are the meek”, this is but half the truth.
