When we discuss with the priests we are told the mantra that we must make the people sing, and we have gone from an understandable and shareable wish to a Stalinist imposition. Unfortunately, as has already happened with other things, something right has been pushed to the extreme, causing it to become wrong.
In fact, all the documents, even the recent ones, specify that everyone must do what is due to them. Nowhere does it say that everyone has to sing or do everything. In the Sacrosanctum Concilium it is said very clearly: "In liturgical celebrations, each person, minister or simple believer, in carrying out his office, must limit himself to carrying out everything and only that which, according to the nature of the rite and the liturgical norms, is within his competence". Nowhere is it written that the faithful must necessarily sing everything. Indeed, the Council recalls how it is necessary to take care of the internal and external formation of the faithful.
